The Haas Awards

The Elise and Walter A. Haas International Award

Dear Cal Friends:

I am pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2012 Elise and Walter A. Haas International Award. Established in 1964, the award recognizes an international alumnus who has a distinguished record of service to his or her country.

The prestige of the Haas International Award is reflected in the exceptional individuals in government, education, science and engineering, business, public health, environmental protection, agriculture, architecture, and public service who have received it. The presentation of this award at our spring Commencement Convocation echoes both the global character of Cal’s faculty, students, and curricula and the University’s long-standing commitment to improving the human condition around the world.

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration in making a nomination for this important campus honor.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Birgeneau
Chancellor
